Visual Conversations - en tekst om udstillingen af Claus Lembourn:
As seen on the walls - it is all from the inside out. The temperament governs every stroke.
Dorte Zangenberg starts working inwards by reduction, scraping away what does not contribute. And back comes the essence of the observed places, objects, moments.
The key word is sharpening. What we see has survived her personal Purgatory. It is all personal. Immanuel Kant saw each of us as a bottle in which reality is poured. Wherefore reality takes our unique shape. Wherefore there are as many realities as there are observers. And as many interpretations.
Works of art have, therefore, been called events of truth. Whose truth? Dorte Zangenberg's truth.
It is about AT - Art Technology. She uses the screen of an iPad as a canvas. Her index finger does the work, becoming pens and brushes of specific sizes and opacity chosen from the brush library of the computer programme. Colours are picked from palettes and can be mixed, like oil paint in endless shades.
Then, what does Technology do to Art? To experiment is to question nature. But Art Technology is just a toolbox, and tools are servants. Not a new "ism" displayed in the last room of a timeline museum.
What AT does, is offer a freedom of working conditions. It gives the strokes new robes. One's abilities flourish. But using finger and electronics does not impede the interpretation. And sensitivity is unharmed as proven on the walls.
What is seen is Dorte Zangenberg's visual conversations with reality as it appears in front of her eyes, demanding to be dealt with.
